SIGEP 2020 confirms the success of expectations: over 200 thousand visitors

Sustainability, Made in Italy artisan quality expressed at the highest levels and a lot of research: the ingredients of the success of SIGEP 2020

The combination of two fairs such as Sigep and A.B. Tech Expo proved to be really positive, given the number of contacts produced during the Rimini kermesse dedicated to the artisan sectors of the Ice Cream, Pastry, Bakery and Coffee sector.

More than 200,000 visitors have explored flavors, recipes, tools, services and new technologies for the industry of interest; 33 thousand buyers from abroad reached the event for meetings and development of new agreements in different world markets.

The companies that joined the exhibition (all the Rimini Fiera pavilions were occupied for a total area of ​​129,000 square meters) were 1,250, with origins from 30 countries.

Ecology is the leitmotif of the proposals on display, combined with craftsmanship and the desire for retro. We go back to living the past with a view to improvement and romance, projected to today's lifestyle: always on the move. The mobile proposals of kiosks for ice cream and desserts are increasing, as they once were, inside the Ape Car but also inside cars like the legendary 500, up to the vans increasingly equipped with food proposals for every occasion. The concept of "Food Truck" is highly appreciated today, also due to consumption styles, during events, while walking, while moving or working in "smart-working" mode.

Raw materials, ingredients and blends that are increasingly natural and where the value of the paste hands stands out: craftsmanship in favor of the quality of each product.

Packs and packaging that are completely biodegradable and compostable, with basic and natural colors, designed for every occasion, also for serving dishes in restaurants, from kiosks for snacks to places open for lunch and dinner. Packaging solutions are researched and produced using compostable products derived from corn and more and more cardboard takeaway trays are inserted.

Naturalness and craftsmanship but also fantasy and branding. Indeed, new super colorful ice cream flavors are born more frequently, inspired by the characters of the films and TV series, such as "The Trolls" inspired by the Dreamworks cartoon. 2020 is also the time to continue the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci, with ice cream flavors named "i cenacoli" (dried fruit and pomegranate) and "Monna Lisa" (eggnog cream and cinnamon), which go to interpret some notes of recipes written at the time by Leonardo Da Vinci, then reported in a book "I Pasticci di Leonardo" by Simona Bertocchi.

Sigep 2020 ends with an all-Italian victory, that of the Gelato World Cup, thanks to a team made up of ice cream maker Eugenio Morrone, pastry chef Massimo Carnio, chef Marco Matinelli, ice sculptor Ciro Chiummo and a team leader such as Giuseppe Tonon.

The appointment with the new tastes of the sector and the development news of this market, which is continuously growing and with a strong international character, is already scheduled for 2021, from 16 to 20 January.
